Eleanor D'AponteEleanor D’Aponte, AIA

Eleanor D’Aponte is an architect registered in NY and VT.  She is passionate about Italian architecture, the natural environment, and masonry buildings.  She has taught many courses across the curriculum at The School of Architecture & Art including Architectural History, Project Delivery and Construction Documentation, and Site Development and Design.  She has most recently developed Imagination and TechniqueAP111 and AP118 the Fundamentals of Design Course.  This course, in addition to covering the introductory principles and skills of design,  is intended to instill in each student a reverence for creativity, the collective community, and a discerning eye.  She also teaches a graduate seminar called Architecture and The Human Body.  This seminar investigates theories of analogy, and how issues related to the human form have influenced architecture over time.  Her most recent creative and professional work includes the collaborative design of a fabric formed concrete residence.  She is interested in a contemporary rural New England aesthetic using masonry which recalls both the beauty and efficiency of the Italian villas of Palladio. She co-organized a summer workshop for students and professionals entitled Experimentation with Fabric Forming. Her administrative responsibilities at The School of Architecture & Art include school assessment and accreditation endeavors, and integrating digital media into the curriculum.
